I am currently studying computer science and AI at the University of Sussex following a foundation year at Kingston University. Prior to my foundation year I was entirely self-taught, using Python regularly from a young age. This meant I had to catch up with my peers who had taken STEM subjects at A level, especially when it came to theory. To do this, I enrolled on a DataCamp course which triggered my subsequent interest in data science. I became familiar with libraries such as Numpy, Pandas, and Matplotlib and grew a passion for data visualisation and analysis.

Throughout my studies I have been exposed to a host of programming languages such as Java and MatLab, which has been both challenging and highly interesting. I am always striving to grow and learn, which is why the tech sector initially appealed to me. Alongside my studies I have been working on personal projects to further my technical skills, one of which being this website! I had no prior knowledge of HTML or CSS but have found the process thoroughly enjoyable. My love for programming and creative nature rendered this project extremely rewarding. In addition to personal projects, I am constantly solidifying what I have learnt in my classes through courses, bootcamps and textbooks. I have always been passionate about personal development - especially when it comes to education. As mentioned, I have a particular interest in data analysis. In a world rife with misinformation, mostly due to generative AI, data and statistics have never been more important. At the same time, I have also developed a strong interest in web development, as I recognize its vital role in presenting data in an accessible and interactive way. Building this website has allowed me to appreciate the power of front-end development, and I see it as a valuable skill to complement my technical toolkit, especially for creating dynamic platforms that communicate data effectively. While my primary focus remains on data science and AI, I am excited about how web development can enhance my ability to create user-friendly, data-driven applications.

Outside of my studies I love to watch movies (my favourite being Uptown Girls), create art and play the piano. I credit my work ethic to my years of playing the piano, which led me to progress to grade 8 ABRSM. Additionally, I have been drawing for as long as I can remember, working with a large range of mediums. During my art A level I made a substantial amount of my work in Blender and have been using Medibang for digital art for years as well. I am a highly creative person, which I feel bodes well for a career in programming where thinking outside the box is imperative. In addition to my hobbies I have been working part-time in hospitality since I turned sixteen. This experience has greatly improved my communication, collaboration and leadership skills. Said improvement is something my managers have noticed in me as well, leading them to promote me to my current role of tearoom team leader from tearoom assistant. Since becoming a team leader, I have made sure to alter my communication style to ensure I am giving clear instructions whilst maintaining an environment of mutual respect. This has created an optimal space for ideas and questions to be shared, enabling me to meet my coworkers needs and constantly improve in my role.

Looking ahead, I am excited to continue refining my skills and explore how emerging technologies can be applied to real-world problems. My goal is to contribute meaningfully to the tech industry, combining my technical expertise with my creative background to develop innovative solutions. Whether it's through data-driven applications, web development, or collaborative projects, I am eager to keep learning and make an impact in the field.
